FYI Online Learning
In the summer of 2009, I began work with FYI Online Learning, a tech startup founded by a break away of Kaplan and in partnership with the University of Miami. The goal of creating one of the first online high schools with Web 2.0 content was ambitious, especially for an 8 month timeline, but with focus and drive to excel this project was a great success.

In this role, I worked both in Miami and Boston conducting research on the target demographic (high school students), working with third party vendors like Discovery Education and Netflix, and designing a range of objects from course skins to icons to curriculum charts and graphs.
It's hard not to be interested in the effects of chemistry and nuclear reactions with imagery like this. Instructions for these eLearning skin designs were to create subject-related visuals that were as engaging to young audiences as movie posters.
Avoiding design cliches such as computer-drawn charts and graphs, this design sought to give a more colorful, hand-dawn, and artistic backdrop to pre-calculus.
This design sought to immerse students in the world of words with fantasy-inspired clouds and floating letters and gritty textures.
Taking inspiration from the high-energy graphics of financial news networks, this design uses the attention-grabbing effects of flying money to keep students engaged and interested.
Needing a clean and fresh viewpoint of the taxonomy of living organisms, this chart was designed to be bright colorful and easy to follow.
